VILLA CHI @ KOH SAMUI - REPLENISH YOUR BATTERY WITH LIFE ENERGY
The last few days before our wedding we spent some time at the phenomenal Villa Chi on Koh Samui. Chi is an exceptionally beautiful villa located right on Bang Po Beach. An ideal accommodation where you can completely unwind and recharge your battery to the full 100%. Villa Chi is divided into several beautiful pavilions.
Several swimming pools have been placed on the grounds of Villa Chi and there is even an area that houses a gym and spa. In the outdoor room, overlooking the sea and Koh Phangan, we discussed our wedding day with the wedding planner and everyone else who was involved. Following on from the outdoor room is the terrace and garden from where you have direct access to the beach. In the days leading up to our wedding, we couldn’t have wished for a better spot!

Villa Chi, located on Bang Po Beach (Koh Samui)
Villa Chi is located in the north of Koh Samui, directly on Bang Po Beach and the eastern adjacent Ban Tai Beach. The beautiful beach is known for its white sand and clear blue waters. Perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenic views. Further afield you will see south of the island of Koh Phangan.
At Bang Po Beach, a pristine stretch of Koh Samui beach, it’s almost always nice and quiet. Besides a few other villas, you’ll find some restaurants. But it certainly isn’t touristy. People who visit Bang Po Beach come for peace and quiet, just as we did.
The front of Villa Chi borders the grounds of Lotus Samui, a small complex containing several pool villas, of which Villa Chi the most beautiful villa is. Despite the fact that Lotus Samui is situated in a quiet area, you’ll be at one of the busy destinations on the island in no time.
TIP!
Looking for a scooter to discover the island of Samui? Right in front of the Lotus Samui / Villa Chi property is a small scooter rental shop. The scooter we rented here was brand new, fully serviced and included safe helmets.
A warm welcome at Villa Chi!
After using the villa’s free shuttle service, we arrived at the gate of Villa Chi, a delightful villa with 702 m2 of pleasant living space. Immediately, we were kindly welcomed by three members of the Villa Chi team. The professional villa manager introduced us to the chef and her congenial colleague. We were offered something to drink and a refreshment towel. Then the tour on the immense Villa Chi grounds followed.
During the tour, they explained the rooms, facilities and features this beautiful villa has to offer. “You will sleep in the master bedroom” we were told, “the most beautiful room of all”. All the ins and outs were gone through and all our questions regarding our stay were expertly answered.

After arriving in the villa’s living room, we took a seat on the super relaxed sofa to sign some papers. After our intake of max half an hour was done, we were asked what we wanted to dine that evening and when we would like to receive our spa treatment. We looked up in surprise, “what’s the villa manager talking about??” As it turned out, the kind owners of Villa Chi wanted to surprise us with a complete dinner and spa treatment, all arranged at the villa itself. They had heard that after our stay at Villa Chi, we would be getting married on the same island. This was their personal wedding gift to us, very thoughtful and what a treat!
Villa Chi layout
Now we will take you on a tour, just as we ourselves were guided through the villa during our fine welcoming. We posted a small reel of this amazing villa on our Thailand Magazine Instagram page.
The entrance to Villa Chi
Upon arrival at the car park of Villa Chi, we walked through the first gate towards Villa Chil. A long path took us to a second gate with double doors. This was the direct entrance to our fabulous villa. We opened the wooden doors and came out onto an elevation with two benches and two low coffee tables in between. Adjacent to this part of the villa were two bedrooms, including our own master bedroom. Further down, just before the dining kitchen, is a staircase leading down to a small gym and spa / massage room.
Inside, next to the entrance to Villa Chi, is a Thai spirit house and a Buddha statue facing the door. A full-sized pool table has been placed, and behind it, part of the meter-long swimming pool.
The spacious eat-in kitchen of Villa Chi
We followed our hosts and walked together into the immense kitchen with dining area. On the kitchen counter were two boxes with our names on them. ‘A gift from Campari Thailand,’ said the villa manager. As it turned out, Campari Thailand had seen on our Facebook page that we were getting married on Samui and where we would be sleeping for it. Another wedding gift? Yep, six bottles of CinZano Prosecco and six bottles of Aperol. “Have a wonderful wedding from the Campari Thailand Team, enjoy!” a card read. WOW could the day get any better, uhm yes it could and would…
The beautiful kitchen of Villa Chi has several modern kitchen appliances such as a wine fridge, a Siemens (steam) oven and a Nespresso coffee maker. Also there are cooking islands for the chef to cook on. Of course you may cook for yourself too, but you are on holiday, enjoy it to the max!
Image: Thailand Magazine
In terms of design, the kitchen is very impressive as well. The materials like the granite worktops are of high quality and at home in the Netherlands we would be overjoyed to have a kitchen like this!
Of course, an eat-in kitchen is nothing without a big dining table where you share great memories and stories in good company. In the case of Villa Chi, you dine cozily around a large glass table surrounded by eight comfortable chairs.
A true showpiece in the kitchen is the modern chandelier hanging above the dining table, it completes the dining area in the kitchen! On the first evening of our happy stay, we received an insanely delicious and sumptuous dinner in the kitchen, what a tasty gift that was!
To get from the kitchen to the living room, you have to walk across a small pond. Several large white marble platforms have been placed in the water, leading you to the heart of the villa.
The Ocean Pavilion, the living area of Villa Chi
“Welcome to the Ocean Pavilion, sit back and make yourself at home,” were the words uttered by the villa manager when we walked in here. Villa Chi’s living room has folding doors all around that can be opened all the way. The result; an inside area that feels like you are outside.
The living room of Villa Chi has a giant and comfortable corner sofa set up. Of course, in a villa like Chi, there is also a high-quality audio/video system available. A Bose audio system, 65-inch flat screen by LG and the Apple TV. On a rainy day on Samui, guests can binge their favorite Netflix series and/or listen to their favorite music here.
Image: Villa Chi
In Villa Chi’s living pavilion, there are some grand decorative pieces on display. For example, upon entering the bright living room, you are greeted by a reclining Buddha statue, and decorative vases and statues are placed here and there. Above the small work desk hangs a beautiful large painting depicting a white flower. Not surprising, since white is also the most commonly used color in this stylish living room. From large semi-white ceramic tiles, to a small white rug by the cream-colored sofa.
A well-working air conditioner and ceiling fan are also present. We liked the door system the most about this space. That way we created a large open space that perfectly matched the outdoor room. With a lovely sea breeze coming in, we felt completely free at Villa Chi!
The extraordinary outdoor room of Villa Chi
Except for our master bedroom, the outdoor room of Villa Chi is our most favorite room of all the “rooms” this amazing villa offers. It was in this part of Villa Chi that we discussed our upcoming wedding with the wedding planner, woke up to an incredibly delicious breakfast and drank another Aperol Spritz after our exploration of the island of Koh Samui.
The dining table in the outdoor room seats six. However several small tables can be linked to it if necessary, resulting in more seating. The open covered outdoor room also has two relaxing chairs opposite a three-person sofa. Ultimate relaxation is done on the two reclining chairs placed or in the large outdoor bed. Not for nothing that this extraordinary outdoor room is the ultimate place to relax and recharge your battery.
The meter-long saltwater pool that runs from the entrance, past the kitchen and living room ends in the villa’s outdoor room. As a bonus, it also comes with a jacuzzi! A small staircase leads to the beautifully tended garden.
The Villa Chi garden
The well-kept garden of Villa Chi is like a green oasis and connects seamlessly with the adjacent terrace overlooking the sea. As if one pool is not enough, there is also a small pool placed in the garden. For more sports and games, a ping pong table is available and kayaks can be used as well.
After an active day in the garden, on the beach or in the sea, of course you will want to refresh yourself. An outdoor shower has been placed on the side of the garden, hidden among the different types of shrubs and trees such as Frangipani and palm trees. To complete the Chi grounds, the garden extends into a large terrace.
The sun deck/terrace of Villa Chi
On the terrace, at the very end of the Villa Chi grounds, there are six sunbeds with accompanying tables and umbrellas. From the terrace you look out over Bang Po Beach and via a few steps you stand with your feet in the soft sand of the beach. Another few meters further and you step into the warm seawater of Samui overlooking Koh Phangan. As a bonus, you get a sunset at the end of the day, all for nothing.
The five bedrooms at Villa Chi
Villa Chi has no less than five beautiful bedrooms with a total of room for ten happy guests. If necessary, this number can be expanded to thirteen. We were lucky enough to have the entire villa to ourselves, so we slept in the mega beautiful master bedroom.
All bedrooms at Villa Chi are clean, spacious and each room has a soft king-size bed to dream about. The rooms have a Thai and timeless design that exudes peace and cleanliness. Each room has some fine decorations that make it unique and every room comes with neatly maintained ensuite bathrooms, all included a rain shower.
The tile-tiled floor feels wonderfully cool, thanks in part to the whisper-quiet air-conditioning available in every room. Whether you only stay in Villa Chi’s bedrooms for a few days or weeks, there is more than enough wardrobe space at your disposal. Valuables such as passports can be kept safe in the safe. Finally, the bedrooms have a private patio or terrace.
Want to do laundry during your holiday? Ask the staff at Villa Chi. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer on site. Your laundry will be ready in a couple of hours and smell deliciously fresh again.
The master bedroom of Villa Chi
The master bedroom is opened by a lockable sliding door system. Once inside, it’s nice and cool thanks to an air conditioning system and the large ceiling fan above the bed. Behind the bed is closet space on both sides, a kind of walk-through closet, very convenient! In the middle of the room is the king-size box-spring bed, wonderfully soft! The master bedroom of Villa Chi is decorated with various works of art, beautiful showpieces and silk decorations by Jim Thompson.
The bathroom of the master bedroom
The beautiful bathroom, next to our master bedroom we would have loved to have at home! A huge bathroom with a free-standing bathtub that partly overlooks the pool. On the other side of the bath is the huge rain shower and opposite the entrance is a large granite sink incorporating a his and hers sink.
We remarkably liked the plants placed behind the sink part. It was not the first time large plants had been used as bathroom decoration. We had seen this before in our bathroom at Sevenseas Resort on Koh Kradan.
The facilities of Villa Chi
A private beachfront villa on a tropical island in Thailand. What more could a person want? How about a spa, a gym, two swimming pools, high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the villa, wonderfully cool living spaces thanks to the air conditioning and great staff who are there for you day and night. Welcome to Villa Chi on Koh Samui!
Image: Villa Chi
Two swimming pools and a Jacuzzi
Almost running the entire length of Villa Chi is a 20-meter-long saltwater pool. The deepest point of the pool is one and a half meters and the pool is 5 meters wide. The pool starts at the master bedroom’s bathroom and from where you can plunge straight into the water. The pool then continues all the way to the outdoor room at the edge of the garden. Opposite the pool in the outdoor room is also a separate Jacuzzi for lovers.
In the garden, next to the terrace, another additional pool has been placed. A small paddling pool that is ideal for (small) children. From this 2.5 x 2.5-meter pool, you overlook the beach and sea with the island of Koh Phangan in the distance.
The gym
With a great private chef in the villa, you’re happy to have a small gym at your disposal! Every morning we got up extra early, not only to enjoy our beautiful villa for as long as possible, but also to make grateful use of the gym.
Villa Chi has a small yet fine gym, which contains a number of cardio machines such as a bike and cross trainer. For building muscle mass, there are a number of weights available and a fitness strength station. Yoga mats and gym balls are there for the slightly more relaxed workout.
Besides the gym, how about a lovely massage and/or beauty treatment?
The spa
Next to the gym is the spa and massage treatment room. Villa Chi guests can choose to book a massage and/or beauty treatment downstairs in the separate massage room. It is peaceful, nice and cool, there are two practical massage tables, you can shower before or after a treatment and, if desired, relaxing music can be put on. By the way, it’s also possible to book a massage on the outside terrace, lovely with the sound of the sea in the background.
Villa Chi works exclusively with professionals and certified therapists. So each one has his/her own speciality. Think massages, scrubs, manicures, pedicures, foot reflexology and many more (beauty) treatments. We have put the spa treatments in an online directory for you.
The friendly Villa Chi owners gave us not one, but two insane wedding gifts! The first evening of our visit to Villa Chi, we were surprised by a gourmet welcome dinner prepared by the talented private chef. Of course, our spirits needed to be well nourished too, and thanks to a comprehensive and super-good beauty and massage treatment, this worked out perfectly. Perfect timing, as we were due to get married a few days later.
Image: Thailand Magazine
From the various treatment options, we chose the 150-minute Blissed Out treatment. This package includes a Thai Massage and a thorough facial. The groom-to-be opted for the Signature Package. This total package consists of a micro-modern facial, a body scrub and a professional massage. After these treatments, the energy and zest for life flowed richly through our bodies. What a great gift!
Delicious food thanks to the amazing private chef
What makes Villa Chi really special, is the fantastic staff, the crown jewel being the ever-so congenial and talented chef Nan. Every morning, the chef prepared a tasty and sumptuous breakfast for us. That genial smile we got while doing so completed it! Nan, we hope you’re reading this, thanks for the good care, see you again!
‘What does this excellent chef prepare?’, we hear you think… There is a very large folder in the kitchen presenting dozens of Thai and Western dishes. From starter to dessert, from tasty curries to fresh fish dishes, (almost) everything is possible. Even a nice barbecue on the terrace is possible. There is a large Weber BBQ in the garden for a reason.
Of course, the Chi team makes sure the groceries are done in advance. You wish for it and the team arranges it. The receipts are kept and handling fees are charged 20% above the purchase. A further 7% VAT is also charged.
Incredible breakfast
The first three days of August 2022 We awoke extremely well thanks to the excellent breakfast. Every morning it was another surprise with what Chef Nan served from her (chef’s) hat on the table next. On the first morning, we got some kind of quesadilla-like dish filled with eggs, among other things. Day two we got fried eggs with sausages and those typical fluffy American blueberry pancakes. On the third and last morning, we were surprised with a breakfast burrito and a savory French toast.
As if those special breakfast dishes were not enough, we were also served some ‘standard’ breakfast items every morning. We got the vitamins we needed thanks to fresh Thai fruit such as pineapple, watermelon and mango. Also served were small yogurts, fresh juices, coffee and tea, bread with jam. Breakfast at Villa Chi provides you with the energy for a great start to the day!
Our delectable wedding gift, a sumptuous welcome dinner at Villa Chi
During our first evening at Villa Chi, we feasted on our first wedding gift on behalf of the owners and team. A sumptuous and delectable dinner consisting of typical Thai dishes.
Did someone say appetizers?
As a starter, we had a trio of appetizers: deep-fried calamari, golden backs (filo dough shaped like a bag with delicious filling) and breaded chicken wings. Way too much, but so incredibly delicious!
Massaman Curry, our favorite curry!
For our main course we had a delicious Massaman Curry and a Yellow Curry with fragrant jasmine rice. It’s not for nothing that CNN voted Massaman as ‘the best dish of the world’ in 2021. We love it! By the way, the best Massaman we have ever tasted is cooked at a small restaurant called Pawns. Pawns is located in the small village of Khao Sok, a not-to-be-missed destination in Thailand. Looking for a guide for an (overnight) tour on Khao Sok National Park’s lake? Then join our Khao Sok WhatsApp Group. We will then pair you with the best guide of Khao Sok National Park and in the group you can exchange tips and information about the area.
Som Tam anyone?
Chef Nan had heard that we love Thai papaya salad, better known as Som Tam. Therefore, she had made an extra large portion of this delicious dish. Not only that night, but also the day after, we enjoyed the crunchy textures and sweet, sour and spicy flavors that this salad is rich in. Som Tam is so incredibly delicious!
Thai Desserts
For dessert, we were served a small portion of Mango Sticky Rice with a dessert next to it that we had not eaten before. Pumpkin in a cold sweet coconut milk (Puad Fuk Tong).
TIP!
During our excellent stay at Villa Chi, we also had dinner once at one of Koh Samui’s best restaurants. Pepenero Koh Samui is an ultimate recommendation if you like fantastic and unique Italian food.

Bangkok Airways
Bangkok Airways is the only airline that flies to Koh Samui. We have used their great service and services countless times. For our wedding, we chose to fly priority class which resulted in priority boarding and exit, as well as a front row seat with extra legroom.
During check-in at Koh Samui Airport, we were allowed to check in our luggage directly at the priority gate and were welcome to Bangkok Airways Blue Ribbon Lounge. We weren’t only greeted with a welcome in the club lounge at Samui Airport (USM), but also in the one at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Here we enjoyed some delicious snacks and drinks before being allowed to board the plane. After take off, we were on the tropical island of Koh Samui in an hour from busy Bangkok, Bangkok Airways is great!
