The Thapwarin Resort is a dream location on the beautiful island of Koh Ngai. The resort has a lovely white beach and a blue sea right in front your doorstep. In the background the resort is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. It is a great place to leave your everyday worries behind!
When arriving by boat, you know right away that you don’t want to leave here! We have seen quite a few beautiful islands in the meantime, but Koh Ngai sticks to your retina! The sea, the beach, the bungalows, the nature, it is so incredibly beautiful! We were glad that we didn’t visited Koh Ngai for just a daytrip!
Still amazed by the beautiful island we got off the boat and were welcomed with a refreshing coconut. After checking in and a friendly welcome with explanations about the facilities of the resort, we were brought to our bungalow.
We slept in a great Beachfront Cottage and it’s called beachfront for a reason. The bungalows are right on the beach and only 15 meters away from that lovely blue sea! From our private veranda with 2 sunbeds we had an uninterrupted view over the blue sea!
Beach in front of the room
The area in front of the Thapwarin Resort is elevated because otherwise no ground remains at high tide. This is so on a large part of Koh Ngai. On the elevation are beach chairs and sunbeds so you can sunbathe and relax undisturbed at any time of the day. If you want to be a little more active you can go snorkeling, because on Koh Ngai you can snorkel from the beach! Ask the staff for the best spots.
Inside the Beachfront Cottage of the Thapwarin Resort
Our detached bungalow was equipped with everything we could possibly need. A fridge/minibar, safe, kettle and satellite TV. Although we had air conditioning in our bungalow we mainly chose to open the doors and enjoy the sea breeze and the beautiful view, we could keep looking at it! But for the nights the air conditioning was nice. Also from our bed with mosquito net we had this beautiful view overlooking Koh Ngai’s waters, the Andaman sea!
The bathroom of the Beachfront Cottage
The bathroom is semi open, you can hear and see the jungle around you, but you don’t have to sacrifice anything on comfort. There is a rain shower with hot and cold water, a hairdryer, western toilet and you just have a roof over your head.
Massage in paradise
Unfortunately we didn’t get to experience it ourselves because there was a renovation, but it looked very promising! In the middle of a peaceful green paradise they worked hard to make the already existing pagoda and Thapwarin Spa even more beautiful.
Thai feast in the Talay Lounge & Resto Bar!
The Talay Lounge & Resto Bar is located directly on the beach, you have an impressive view over the sea and the small surrounding islands, really a place to stay after your dinner for a few drinks! Because we were there in low season and there were few other guests in the resort, they had set a table especially for us on the beach with all candles in the sand!
That also tells something about the friendliness and service-mindedness of the staff! They really do their best to give you a great time. The food we ate was authentic Thai and not only very tasty but also very nice to see! (The eye wants something too). The vegetables and herbs used come from our own garden. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Psst! If you have wedding plans then they know what to do at the Thapwarin Resort! There are also special honeymoon packages, so chances are you will eat romantic and private at a table on the beach!
The Thapwarin Resort consists of 28 charming bungalows made of natural materials such as wood, bamboo and palm leaves. All bungalows have their own veranda. You can choose between cottages directly on the beach, the Beachfront Cottage or a Warrin Cottage. The Warrin Cottage stands a row behind the Beachfront Cottages in the middle of the lush green jungle complete with wooden walkways. There are also family rooms with bunk beds for the kids and a large balcony.
Mayalay Beach Resort
A little further in the middle of Koh Ngai Beach, the Mayalay Beach Resort can be found. This resort belongs to the same owner as the Thapwarin Resort and also has nice bungalows with sea view and bungalows spread over the garden between the palm trees. There is also a bar on the beach where you can sip your cocktails while overlooking the beautiful area of Koh Ngai. In terms of price, the Malaya Beach Resort and the Thapwarin Resort are quite close to each other, but the Malaya Beach Resort is often just a little cheaper.
