PHI PHI CLIFF BEACH RESORT - RELAXING STAY ON THE BUSIEST BEACH OF KOH PHI PHI
In 2018, we spent a few nights at the U-RIP Resort on Koh Phi Phi. We liked this nice resort immensely, despite the brisk twenty-minute walk to get to the center of Ton Sai. Coincidentally, U-RIP is owned by the same owner as the Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort. Logically, because of the previous experience, we decided to spend a few nights at this resort on Koh Phi Phi. Below you can read our review of this resort in the western corner of Ton Sai Beach.

Where on Koh Phi Phi is Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort located?
Almost everyone who visits Koh Phi Phi arrives at the Ton Sai pier with the eponymous Ton Sai Beach and Ton Sai Village, the center of the island. Ton Sai also has a fairly pleasant beach on both sides of the pier, but the beach is especially wonderful in the west. At the end of the western section of Ton Sai Beach, the beach is abruptly interrupted by a batch of steep cliffs. Not surprisingly, a resort called Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort is located right there.
Once you arrive on Phi Phi, it’s another relaxing 10-minute walk before you can check into the Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort. This also means that from the resort you can be in the center of Ton Sai, with numerous nice stores and restaurants, in 10 minutes. From the center of Ton Sai you cross in a few minutes to Loh Dalum Beach, the beach on the other side of the village known for its fun and many spectacular fire shows. In case of emergency, your resort is also well placed, as there is a small hospital less than 5 minutes walk away. An additional advantage of sleeping on the outskirts of Ton Sai is that it is also nice and quiet. You are in the middle of the crowd, but are not disturbed by screaming (drunk) people. Koh Phi Phi remains for some a party island…

The resort
Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort is a fairly spacious resort with a large pool on the third floor. A plus is that from the pool you have a phenomenal view of Ton Sai Bay. Check-in is on the first floor where the spacious breakfast room is also located. In front of the resort, just before the beach, is a tiny tent where you can order tasty drinks such as an (iced) coffee. Snacks and lunch dishes to eat on the beach are also prepared here, delicious and easy! The staff of the resort is extremely friendly and helpful. They love to chat and explain everything you need to know about the resort and the area. They also taught us a few new Thai words, always nice! At the desk it is also possible to book a tour to the surrounding islands and beaches of Koh Phi Phi.
Pool & Sea View Room (our room)
At the Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort there are five types of rooms, of which we booked the ‘Pool & Sea View Room’. A gigantic room of 72 m2 with all the necessary facilities that we find important. The room even has a kitchen with microwave, kettle and a large fridge including freezer. The kitchen is largely surrounded by a bar and on the other side of the room is a sofa with a TV cabinet and behind it the bed. Such a huge room we have rarely had, we must confess that such a large space feels nice and luxurious. Things like a well-functioning air conditioner, a safe, stable wifi, a TV and so on, were all well provided as well.
For the ladies there is a small make-up table with a mirror and in the room you can find two spacious closets. Bathrobes, slippers and umbrellas can be found in one of these closets. The bathroom is spacious, but unfortunately it was noticeable that the resort has been around for a few years. Hopefully the management will plan a good renovation in the near future. Despite that we understand that thanks to Covid-19 it has been very difficult. We found it not so disturbing, everything still works properly and there are more pluses than minuses about the Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort to mention.
Besides the free feeling thanks to the large room, there are two more advantages of sleeping in the Pool & Sea View. The great view and the direct access to the pool. Some rooms, like ours, actually have a small terrace as a “peninsula” in the pool (see photo below and then the last rooms on the left). On the terrace is a nice two-seater as a lounge sofa where you can dream away or stare at the boats in the sea.
NOTE!
Not all Pool & Sea View rooms have a terrace surrounded by water. The other rooms have a spacious terrace adjacent to the pool. See the difference in the pictures below.
The view from our room was truly spectacular, especially during sunrise, as the sun rose right over the sea. Magical moments like this, make you wake up extra nice so early in the morning. We not only had a view over the sea, but also partly over the western part of Ton Sai Beach, where the monkeys like to play and look for food…

Other rooms at the Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort
If you are interested in staying at the Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort, we of course recommend you book the Pool & Sea View room. Is this room sold out or would you prefer another room? There are more rooms with a beautiful view over the bay and sea of Ton Sai. Below we list the different rooms for you. If you’re traveling with a small child, know that all rooms have a couch that can be slept on for a few nights.

Luxury Room @ Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort
The cheapest room at the Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort is the Luxury Room. In terms of space (72 m2) you don’t sacrifice anything compared to our Pool & Sea View option. The room has a kitchen with a microwave, large fridge and kettle. The bathroom with shower is nice and spacious with various amenities (soaps, toothbrush, razor, etc.), which make your stay even more enjoyable. Outside there is an open terrace with two chairs. A great place for a few nights near the center of Koh Phi Phi.
Sea View Room @ Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort
The Sea View Room is exactly the same as the Luxury Room above, the only difference being that you’re one floor up. Yep, that means you have a beautiful view of Ton Sai Bay. The Sea View Room at Phi Phi Cliff Beach has an open terrace that is covered, handy because of the occasional tropical rain.
DID YOU KNOW?
The room we had, the Pool & Sea View, but also many other rooms are also available as twin rooms.
Pool Acces Room (Beach Front Room) @ Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort
We were in doubt between this room or the Pool & Sea View Room. The Beach Front Room is on the first floor and overlooks the beach opposite the Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort. There is a small swimming pool adjacent to which three rooms are located. Each room has a small terrace which is in the pool and only accessible from the room. Also this room is, how did you guess, 72 m2. The reason we didn’t choose this room was because of the view. Nice to have a beach view, but we prefer to see the total picture, beach, sea and boats, or in other words the whole bay.
Family Room @ Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort
Suppose you are planning to travel to Koh Phi Phi with your family of at least two children and you are looking for a spacious and comfortable room near the center of Ton Sai. Check out the Family Room on Booking.com or Agoda. This room is so big (142 m2) that a family with 5 children can easily stay here. The room consists of a living room including an open kitchen, of course a bathroom and two bedrooms.
Food & Beverages
Every morning there is a breakfast ready for the guests of the resort, not huge, but for a few days it is more than good. In front of the resort is a small associated snack bar, which prepares various snacks and shakes, among other things.
Breakfast
Actually, the breakfast options at the Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort are exactly what a guest needs. There’s coffee, tea, milk and yogurt, as well as some fruit juices that you can pour from a dispenser. There is also bread, which is best eaten toasted with, for example, jam, nutella or peanut butter. There are also a few sweet treats every morning, we found the brownies very tasty. An omelet roll or sunny side up egg are already waiting for you in a warming tray, just like the sausages and various Thai dishes. Whether you like sweet or salty breakfast, it’s all available.
Snacks and (ice)coffees
The small snack bar across from the Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort was convenient during our relaxing stay. Unfortunately, it was quite crowded at times, but that also means (usually) that the food there is good. The portions were generous and what we ordered all tasted very good. The first time we ate two pancakes and a portion of French fries at lunch on our wonderful terrace with an ocean view. Two days later we had lunch on the beach with a Tuna Sandwich and Cheeseburger including a delicious and refreshing shake. In short, the snack bar of the resort is in our opinion a very nice addition for the guests of the resort. The monkeys were also very pleased, since they regularly came to see if they could snatch something delicious…

Monkeys
Speaking of food and monkeys… Keep your rooms closed when you are not there or at unguarded times. There are several monkey families living in the area and they come daily, especially in the early morning on a rampage. Very nice to see monkeys, provided they haven’t trashed your room. We recommend you to sit on the beach in front of the resort in the early morning. The macaques then come in large numbers to explore the place in search of food and beverages.

The beach (Ton Sai) in front of Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort
We found the beach in front of Phi Phi Cliff Beach Resort to be a big bonus. We didn’t really expect much from this place, but we enjoyed the sand and sea. Not only because of the peace and quiet this corner of Ton Sai Beach offers, but also because of the still beautiful beach this part of Ton Sai has. Like many beaches in Thailand, Ton Sai has a strong difference of low and high tide. Take this into account, we were not bothered by it.

Great tour(s)
Through the resort there are several tours that can be booked. We chose the 4 island tour and it was in one word WONDERFUL! We had a very friendly captain who made us feel comfortable during the whole day. An extensive report about our tour will come as soon as possible and we will link to it via this article.
