PATPONG NIGHT MARKET
NOTE!
Patpong Market is closed, as soon as it reopens, we will let you know.
Near the almost always busy BTS station Sala Daeng, in the center of the Silom area, you will find the famous Patpong Night Market with discotheques, Go Go Bars and a real tourist market where everything is for sale. There are three long rows of market stalls with all kinds of (fake) items such as sports shoes, sunglasses, bags, watches and clothing.
Louis Vuitton, Prada or Ray-Ban
Just assume that all branded products are fake, the same, but different certainly applies here and remember this when negotiating! Because starting prices are often on the high side, so you might get the idea that this is an original after all (don’t be fooled). Okay this market may not have a lot of authenticity but if you’re looking for counterfeit items and you can negotiate well this market is a good place! Nike, Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Ray-Ban and Rolex can all be found on this evening market! Often there are several versions of the counterfeit products, the better they look like the original, the more you pay.
DO YOU KNOW?
A resting place in all the hustle and bustle is the beautiful Lumpini Park, just a 5 minute walk from the Patpong Night Market.

Ping Pong Shows and Go Go Bars
Around the Patpong Night Market are food stalls and market stalls as well as the famous ping pong ball shows, this has little to do with a fun game of ping pong for the whole family. The women in these bars have given a whole different dimension to this sport. Sometimes men try to lure you in with a free show or drink, but remember that if something is too good to be true, it is! The ladies in the bar drink “cozy” a drink with you, at your expense of course. There are many reports of bizarrely expensive drinks and very high bills when leaving a Go Go Bar and then the atmosphere can suddenly become a lot less cozy.
Remarkable menu
Don’t be put off by the above, we have visited this night market several times for shopping or a stroll and have never felt unsafe. In any case, there are plenty of other tourists and the men who want to lure you into the bars were never intrusive with us. Probably that is different when you come alone as a man. Often they have a menu in their hand with different drinks or another remarkable menu they want to show you. No shaking or just going through it is usually enough to make it clear that they are at the wrong address with you. Luckily there are also normal menus and you can eat in the vicinity of the market at the food stalls and the various restaurants in the neighborhood. Take a look at the Food & Drink tab in the InfoBox at the bottom.
