CLOSED!
Neon Night Market / Talad Neon sadly closed as of September 2021 – Unfortunately, this market in Bangkok also did not survive Covid19.

NEON NIGHT MARKET (TALAD NEON)

The Neon Night Market is a fairly new market in the Pratunam area (Ratchathewi district) of Bangkok. By the way, the Thai call this market Talad Neon, which might be useful if you ask for directions or catch a taxi. Talad means market in Thai. Talad Neon is not only fairly new and feels young and fresh. The market is easy to reach via the BTS Sky Train or by foot if you sleep in the Siam district. Are you a Thai street foodie and/or near the Neon Night Market? Then a visit to this market in Bangkok is definitely fun!

The young history of the Neon Night Market

The Talad Neon Downtown Night Market, as the market is officially called, opened on December 1st in 2016. The team behind the Platinum Fashion Mall is behind the creation of this brightly lit market in the centre of Bangkok. So it’s not a small party. The concept behind the Neon Night Market was invented by Artbox, which is now a pop-up market that occasionally pops up in Bangkok. That is why the Neon Night Market fits well in the list of more modern markets like Siam Gypsy Junction and the Rod Fai markets. Also the hip and very nice JJ Green Night Market (located next to the popular Chatuchak Weekend Market) had this vibe. Unfortunately JJ Green is closed since 2018. The modern Thai and often young Thai spend their evening sniffing and strolling on these kinds of markets. Why another new market I hear you think, according to the team behind the Platinum Fashion Mall there was no modern market yet in this central part of Bangkok and therefore they saw a huge opportunity here. If this market is as much a life as JJ Green, time will tell..

What is for sale at the Neon Night Market

With a capacity of up to 900 stalls, you’ll find plenty of everything here, of course. But most of this is food and drink. There are also quite a few clothing and accessories stalls to cover you from head to toe. Such as hats, glasses, shirts, jewelry, belts, (boxer) shorts, pants, shoes and slippers. Indispensable are of course the stalls where you will be seduced to buy those nice Thai souvenirs. You’ll also find various merchants with electronics, gadgets and household goods here and there. Do you consider yourself the type of bargain hunter focused on unique, special and vintage items? Then skip this market, this is not that type of market.  But for a few hours looking around with a bite to eat and a drink, you’re in the right place!

Entrance at Movykodge Hostel

Little to spend but still sleep in the Pratunam area (Ratchathewi district)? The hostel is designed by an interior design studio that also owns this trendy place to sleep. The most important criterion the Movylodge Hostel had to meet was to create a clear and fresh design and it had to be different from other hostels. This worked out very well! In this fun, cozy and modern hostel you sleep in a so-called capsule in a mixed dormitory, including locker, air conditioning, wifi and breakfast. The common areas such as the bathroom, kitchen, terrace and coffee bar are clean and tidy. A super hostel that gets high ratings everywhere. The BTS station Ratchathewi is only a 3 minute walk away.

Lobby of the Chang Siam Hotel

This basic hotel with a good location and amenities is the budget topper in the Pratunam area (Ratchathewi district)! With authentic decorated wooden panels, the Chang Siam Inn is different from other hotels. You reach the rooms with an elevator and these are clean and equipped with air conditioning, wifi, refrigerator and safe. The staff is super friendly and hospitable. For the price you sit here baked! The public transport connections are very good because in 6 minutes walk you are at the Makkasan SRT station and the nearest BTS station Chit Lom is a fifteen minute walk. If you come from or want to go to the Suvarnabhumi airport then you are within 20 minutes by taxi at the station where the Airport Rail Link runs.

The pool of the True Siam Rangnam hotel

Looking for a hotel with pool in the Pratunam area (Ratchathewi district)? Then the True Siam Rangnam Hotel is a good option. The pool is not large but good for some cooling in the soaking hot Bangkok. The hotel has large rooms with a refrigerator, air conditioning and safe. A fine middle class hotel in this area! Near the hotel you will find nice restaurants and a cinema. The BTS station Victory Monument is a 10-minute walk away.

Pool of the Eastin Hotel Makkasan

This hotel is one of the top hotels near the Neon Night Market! Eastin Hotel Makkasan is a 20-minute walk from BTS station Phaya Thai and a 5-minute taxi ride from the Airport Railway Link. With a nice breakfast, nice rooms, two swimming pools of which one, with a beautiful view on the skyline of Bangkok, this hotel is more than worth the price! There is also a spa and sauna. Ask for a room as high as possible, what a view!

Room at Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel

The Centara Watergate Pavillion Hotel may cost a little more, but you get the well-known good service and quality of the Centara group in return! And you will notice that as soon as you enter the hotel! The rooms are beautiful, spacious, clean and of course fully equipped! The hotel has 24-hour room service and there are several good restaurants and bars to choose from. Ideal if you want to spend a few days in luxury with your partner in Bangkok. At BTS station Chid Lom you can walk in fifteen minutes.

The Amari Watergate in the Pratunam area of Bangkok

What a fantastic hotel this is! The lobby, lounges and restaurants are all phenomenally designed and offer you as a guest the well-deserved rest. Many shopping malls and attractions are nearby, and you can reach the BTS Station Chit Lom on foot within fifteen minutes. The rooms at Amari Watergate Bangkok are super nice and have everything your heart desires. What made our hearts beat faster were the delicious buffets with lots of choice to eat during the morning, afternoon or evening.
