MOOKLAMAI RESORT

The beautiful MookLamai Resort is run by a local family who have lived on the island from generation to generation. Their connection to the island of Koh Mook (Koh Muk) is grand and so is the hospitality to their guests!

The MookLamai Resort is a 15-minute walk from Sivalai Beach and a 20-minute walk from Charlie Beach. At the resort there are bikes which you as a guest can use for free. But the very nice team also finds it no problem to take you anywhere with the scooter, completely free and always with a smile! Also when you arrive at the pier you will be picked up for free.

Cosy atmosphere

The MookLamai Resort is a beautiful small-scale resort, because of this there is a friendly atmosphere and the staff knows who you are, there is a lot of personal attention en interest.

A lot of care has been given to the open lobby and the entire grounds of the resort. The restaurant area and adjacent lobby has a modern landscaped pond with fish. Before you can enter the resort grounds you first have to go through a gate with wooden doors, this gives an intimate atmosphere to the resort.

A Sa-Biang Restaurant

Next to the lobby you will find the A Sa-Biang Restaurant, here they serve good authentic Thai and western food. You also can drink good cocktails here! Even a good breakfast is served in this cosy restaurant. Here we had a delicious Thai lunch and a few simple but good breakfasts!

The beautiful spacious pool with children’s area is centrally located in the garden, in the evening the pool is beautifully lit! At the poolside bar you can enjoy cocktails and other refreshing drinks during the day.

Toucans, monkeys and a monitor lizard!

After passing through the gate you enter the well-kept garden with swimming pool. In the trees adjacent to the resort are regularly monkeys and toucans. Also the (house) monitor lizard has a great time at MookLamai and occasionally shows itself.

For a bit of nature you don’t have to leave the grounds at all!

Pool View Villa

We slept in the Pool View Villa, these are detached bungalows around the pool. Each bungalow has its own entrance and a small terrace with sun beds. From our terrace we had a view over the pool which was a few meters away from us.

The villas are very comfortable and super clean! We found the layout very nice and practical, there was a kind of walk-in closet with a desk / dressing table. The bed had a good mattress, without being to hard or to soft. Opposite the bed was a flat screen TV where funnily enough also a Dutch channel was shown. Through a sliding door we had access to our private terrace with sunbeds.

The bathroom was partly outside, the sink and toilet are inside but the shower half outside, again everything was super clean and neat. Even though you’re on an authentic Thai island, you really don’t have to sacrifice anything on the western standard.

Pool Access, Family Rooms and Private Pool Villas

Scattered over the terrain are several bungalows and rooms. Directly at the swimming pool there are a number of connected rooms that have access to the swimming pool directly from the private terrace. A little further on in the garden are beautiful villas with lots of privacy and private pools, worth considering if it fits within your budget!

Going out on Koh Mook

Koh Mook does not (yet) have a real nightlife but there are some nice bars. The Koh Mook Ting Tong Bar is a cozy place where you can have a drink while enjoying a fire show. The Perfect Bar and Restaurant has happy hour from 16:00 to 18:00 and is a nice place by the sea to start the evening.

The transport on koh Mook is simple and well arranged! On the island scooters ride with a sidecar, there you can ride with several people at the same time. Each ride on the island costs 50 baht p.p. one way. So negotiating the price is not necessary! Also make sure to read our article ‘How to travel to Koh Mook‘.
