LONG TABLE

UPDATE
As of December 2020, the doors to this location are closed. We are not sure if this location will ever reopen.

Long Table is a sky bar and restaurant in the district Asok. Here you can enjoy good food and socialize while drinking beverages with a stunning view over Bangkok from 120 meters altitude! We visited this amazing location in 2019 while we enjoyed the friendly service, a good three-course dinner and delicious cocktails.

Where in Bangkok is Long Table?

Long Table is a ten-minute walk from BTS Station Asok and a 15-minute walk from Metro Station Sukhumvit. This makes this sky bar and restaurant easily accessible and you can avoid traffic jams on the road. Long Table is located next to Benjakiti Park in the Column Tower on the 25th floor.

The long table and more

At Long Table there are certainly places for a romantic dinner for 2. But this sky bar is called Long Table for a reason! The longest table in the restaurant is 25 meters and has room for 45 people! Probably the longest table in Bangkok or even all of Thailand! It is rightly the showpiece of the restaurant! The look & feel of the restaurant and bar is also very beautiful! On the desk you enter, the full name of Bangkok is written in Thai. This one’s name is nice and long, just like the table!

DO YOU KNOW The official name of Bangkok is Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit.  In Thai this is: กรุงเทพมหานคร อมรรัตนโกสินทร์ มหินทรายุธยา มหาดิลกภพ นพรัตนราชธานีบูรีรมย์ อุดมราชนิเวศน์มหาสถาน อมรพิมานอวตารสถิต สักกะทัตติยวิษณุกรรมประสิทธิ์

Outside on the terrace

In 2019 we visited Long Table, we were there on a weekday and it was still nice and quiet. Maybe it was because we wanted to see the sunset and were there early. We had asked if we could eat outside on the comfortable sofas, so we could fully enjoy the view. A nice place to start a very nice evening in Bangkok!

DO YOU KNOW? At Long Table there is also a small swimming pool with an incredibly beautiful view over the city. Unfortunately, only guests staying at the Column Hotel can make use of this service. This hotel is located in the same building as Long Table.

A table with a view

From the terrace you look out on Benjakitti Park and the Ratchada Lake. One of the rare pieces of green in the built-up neighborhood of Asok. The view from here is really superb! Especially the slow transition from day to night when all the lights are on is magical!

Thai Sharing Set Menu

After we had an aperitif, we decided what we wanted to eat. We went for the Thai Sharing Set Menu! That way we could taste and share all kinds of things. Always fun together! The appetizer, the king crab salad with avocado and wasabi-sesamdressing tasted excellent!

As main course we had Wagyu Beef with spinach, sautéed mushrooms and fried onion rings. Also a fish swimmed by, the grilled fillet of sea bass with white wine sauce. Both main courses tasted delicious!

For dessert we had Mango Sticky Rice (so addicted to this!) and vanilla ice cream with a syrup of passion fruit and a crisp of sesame. The dishes were as tasty as they looked!

So you think you can shake?!

Because we wanted to hang around for a while we decided to order another cocktail. When we asked at the bar for more information about the cocktails it turned out that we were lucky. We were told the bar team was working on a new map. Or else we wouldn’t want to test two cocktails. For such an experience like this we are always in the mood!

The bar with bartenders at Long Table in Bangkok

First we got to see their recipe, a mixologist secret so unfortunately we are not allowed to share it. “What happens at Long Table – Stays at Long Table.” There were three bartenders working that night so we got to see three recipes. Every cocktail was a brainchild from one of the bartenders. We could choose two out of three recipes. Unfortunately one bartender had to drop out right away… It’s not easy to be a judge!

Love Potion vs The Immortal

The jury had spoken, through to the finals went the Love Potion and The Immortal. It should be clear which one the woman and which one the man had chosen… We sat down again on our comfortable sofas and enjoyed the view for a while. The sultry evening and the background music of the DJ created a very nice atmosphere. We enjoyed another great evening in the city we love so much!

And the winner is…

After about fifteen minutes the finalists came to the table. A small glass with a pink liquid called Love Potion and the larger glass consisting of a cocktail of two colors, The Immortal. We tasted our cocktails skillfully while being watched with big eyes by the staff, the tension was running high… We asked to be left alone for a while so we could have a proper consultation as befits a real jury!

SAVE MONEY Between 17:00 and 19:30 it’s Happy Hour at Long Table. You’ll get two drinks for the price of one from a pre-selected card. Nice to combine with some tapas. The price for three tapas is 399 baht.

Is the Long Table worth a visit?

Yes, it is! Of course there are a lot of sky bars and rooftop bars in Bangkok, but we had a fantastic time there! The friendly staff will certainly contribute to this! What really matters here is the beautiful location and view combined with the tasty dishes and quality cocktails. That’s why we also recommend to sit outside on the terrace and preferably during sunset.
