The Krabi Hot Springs (Namtok Ron) are natural hot tubs in the middle of the green nature in the province of Krabi. The water comes from volcanic chambers deep underground. Therefore the water always has a beneficial temperature of 35 to 42 degrees Celsius! The water also has all kinds of minerals that would be good for skin complaints and give relief in case of rheumatic complaints. We don’t know if this is really the case, but a hot bubble bath in the middle of beautiful nature never hurts!
The Krabi Hot Springs consists of several swimming spots. There is a waterfall that has hollowed out all natural bubble baths due to the current. Here you can relax and bathe. Because the Hot Springs are so hot, it is recommended not to stay in the water longer than 15/20 minutes. You can also make a jump in the cold river via a vine or rope (just like Tarzan!). Or just via the jetty if you don’t have to make an impression… Ideal to cool down for a while, as far as Thai temperatures allow, of course!
DO YOU KNOW?
Namtok means waterfall and ron means hot in Thai. Namtok Ron means hot waterfall! If you point at yourself and say ron, every Thai will understand that you are very hot! If you would like some nam, you ask for water.
The waterfall is about 5 meters high and 10 meters wide, not very big. Because of this, it can quickly feel crowded. That is why there are also a couple of landscaped places across the area where you can swim and/or paddle. Follow the signs to the Spa. For children there is a playground as well as a shallow pool. This makes a visit to the Krabi Hot Springs also a nice family outing!
Entrance Krabi Hot Springs
Per person: 160 baht
Parking scooter/car: 10/50 baht
Although it is only a 500 meter walk to the Hot Springs there is also a shuttle service available for 20 baht per person one way. You will miss a nice walk through nature.
You can also take a Thai massage at the Hot Springs, make your visit to the Hot Springs just a lovely relaxing pampering day!
How to get to the Krabi Hot Springs
If you drive from Krabi Town or Ao Nang Beach to the Emerald Pool & Blue Pool you will pass the Hot Springs on your way. The distance between both destinations is only 10 kilometers, a perfect combination! You can buy tickets for the Emerald Pool & Blue Pool in combination with the Hot Springs anywhere in Krabi Town or Ao Nang Beach. You can also add the Tiger Cave Temple if you like. We advise you to only do this when you don’t have a lot of time. Because then you are stuck to a (too) tight schedule and you might have to hurry and that’s a shame of the beautiful surroundings! We advise you to visit the Tiger Cave Temple separately.
