Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park
The Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park is a much visited nature reserve in Khao Lak. The beautiful park borders the sea and is home to many different species of flora and fauna. The park is named after the mountains Khao Laken and Lam Ru. In the park you can make a number of hikes with or without a guide. From most beach resorts in Khao Lak it is a short car or scooter ride to the entrance of the park.
Flora and Fauna
The Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park is home to hornbills (bushy-crested hornbill), monitor lizards (bengal monitor lizard), flying cats (colugo), snakes (malyan pit viper) and the malyan tapir. If you want to spot the wild animals it’s best to leave as early as possible in the morning. The jungle is dense and lush and you will see many different types of trees and plants including bamboo and cashew trees. Although you don’t really need a guide who is the master in spotting animals you would otherwise have passed by so easily.
Adventurous jungle trekking
In the Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park lies the beautiful and small beach Little White Sandy Beach. You can reach the beach by trekking for about an hour (1,4 km). For this path you take the northern main entrance of the park, the route to the beach is signposted. The entrance fee to the park is 200 baht for adults and 100 baht for children.
The narrow jungle path required a good physical condition and is unsuitable for small children. You will walk / climb on different surfaces and the path rises and falls along cliffs. With good shoes you will have an advantage. Because the path runs along the sea, you regularly have beautiful views. Although the walk through the pristine jungle is worthwhile in itself, you don’t want to miss out on the reward Little White Sandy Beach!
The reward
When you have completed the jungle trekking you get a nice reward, Little White Sandy Beach! A dip in the sea is exactly what you need after the trekking so don’t forget your swimwear. The small beach is surrounded by dense jungle and the sea slopes slowly. You can also snorkel when the sea is calm. While snorkeling you can see colorful parrotfish. On the beach are toilets, a shower and a store for cold drinks.
TIP!
In the low season it can happen that the store is closed, take at least enough water with you!

Short route to Little White Sandy Beach
Little White Sandy Beach can also be reached in another (easier) way. From the main road there is an entrance to the Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park. This path of about 400 meters is a lot shorter and more passable than the long route. Because of this, Little White Sandy Beach is also accessible for children or people who can’t or don’t want to do jungle trekking. Little White Sandy Beach. You will find the entrance about 4 km south of the main entrance, there are parking spaces available.

Entrance Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park and waterfall
The entrance fee to Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park is 200 baht for adults and 100 baht for children, no matter which entrance you take. The entrance ticket is valid all day and can also be used for the Ton Chong Fa Waterfall located further down the road. The Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park is open daily from 06:00 to 18:00.
