IN THE PICTURE #83: CONSTANTINOS CATSOULIS
In this feature called ‘In the Picture‘ we ask great photographers from all over the world to share their 10 most favorite Thailand photos with our readers. See Thailand through the lens of the photographer, read the background stories and learn more about the land of smiles.
In the almost 100 editions of In the Picture we have welcomed many photographers from different countries around the world, but never someone from Greece! Very nice that we can also add someone from this beautiful country in Europe to our list of publications!
Welcome Constantinos!
Hi Constantinos! Could you please introduce yourself to our readers?
Γειά σας (Hello in Greece),
My name is Constantinos Catsoulis! I was born in Kalamata, a city in the Southwest of Greece, but grew up in Athens! For the last 11 years I live in Samut Prakan, in the Bangkok Metropolitan area. I was always an observer in my life and one day I happened to own a Pentax K1000. Soon, I decided to study photography! I studied for two years at the Focus school of photography in Athens.
Below you can see a few of my own favorite shots.
καλή μέρα (Have a nice day),
Constantinos

The Pratunam Pier in Bangkok. A well known place near Central World! I was lucky to be there just before dark, and could combine ambient with artificial light!
What is your favorite destination in Thailand?
The Golden Triangle is a place of infinite beauty, therefore is one of my favorites!
Which place / destination in Thailand is still on your wish list to visit?
I have never been to Ubon Ratchathani and the area around! I’ve seen photos , also I have friends from there and I would love to visit one day!
#3
Early morning in Bang Pu, Samut Prakan. One of my favorite spots in Samut Prakan! I live not far from there and I like to visit very often!
Which place / destination do you recommend our readers to visit and why?
Bangkok has some great parks! I think the best of them is the Rama IX Park a big park dedicated to King Rama IX and among others is a botanical park.
Where do you like to eat?
Thailand is the land of street food! Yaowarat Road, Chinatown (Bangkok) is the place to enjoy excellent street food! But if you want something really unforgettable I strongly suggest Koh Lanta Suvarnabhumi restaurant! A place of high aesthetic with great food and ambience, just next to Suvarnabhumi airport.

Chinatown in Bangkok used to be so busy. I could shoot this on a tripod, without disturbing the tuk tuk driver, who was stuck by the traffic.
Tip us a nice coffee shop or bar where our readers can drop by.
Asiatique the Riverfront Market at the banks of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok is the place to sit for a coffee or a beer.
What is your favorite Thai dish?
I love Thai food. Thai Basil Chicken Pad Kra Pao is my favorite though!
What is your favorite accommodation in Thailand?
The Tolani Resort (formerly known as Away Koh Kood) is a really beautiful luxurious resort in Klong Chao Beach, Koh Kood island
Do you have a (travel) tip that might come in handy in Thailand?
Thailand is more than Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin or Phuket. Visit the North and allow yourself to be lost! You won’t regret it!
Is there a Thai phrase or word our readers need to learn?
ขอถ่ายรูปหน่อย Koh Thai rup noi? Can I take a photo?
What type / brand of camera do you use?
I use the Nikon D800 camera, with a collection of Nikon lenses! Some are old manual focus, but excellent lenses, like the 105 mm/f:2.5 AIS.
Where can our readers find your work / photos?
Last question, who should we also ask our ‘In the Picture’ feature?
#11
BRT bus station with Empire Tower, Bangkok. In Chong Nonsi! A beautiful building and guess what! I took this photo on 1/8 of a second handheld! I had to keep my breath to avoid shaking!

Yaowarat Road, is one of most interesting places in Bangkok, always full of action! The photo was taken before the covid era and it was January, at the peak of the tourist period.
