BEST BARS ON KOH LANTA
You don’t visit the island of Koh Lanta to club or to visit big (Full Moon) parties for the simple reason, there aren’t any! But Koh Lanta is certainly not boring and you can go out there but it’s all much less crowded. When it comes to cozy bars, Koh Lanta is the place to be, especially in high season. Some bars are also open in low season but there are less special evenings organized. In high season many bars have at least one day a week a special night with a live band or DJ. Also with holidays like Christmas and New Year’s Eve there are often fun themed parties.
The Full Moon and Half Moon are also celebrated, but this is not comparable to how they do it on the island of Koh Phangan, for example. But that is often exactly what people love about Koh Lanta! When a bar organizes a special themed party, like for example with Full Moon or Songkran, you’ll see signs along the road with announcements. So keep an eye on them if you’re looking for a party! Usually the bar also advertises along the roadside if there is a live band or DJ every Saturday. Checking out the bar’s Facebook page is also a good idea!
Almost all bars are located on the western side of the island and most of them are directly on the beach. Going out on Koh Lanta is therefore often just chilling out, getting to know new people. Many bars on Koh Lanta have happy hour at sunset, so just add a few delicious cocktails or ice-cold beers. Who knows where the evening ends? Maybe at one of the nice bars below!

Majestic Bar Koh Lanta
The Majestic Bar is a cozy cocktail bar with fun homemade decorations and of course delicious cocktails! This bar is located at Klong Ning Beach on the west coast of Koh Lanta. This also means that you can see beautiful sunsets over the sea! The spots on the beach are super cozy so you will linger for a long time. If you want to have something to eat besides a nice drink they can order it for you at the adjacent restaurant, no problem at Majestic Bar Koh Lanta!
Majestic Bar is visited by all kinds of age groups. Probably partly because this bar runs beautiful classics combined with new indie. Also the friendly staff is open for request numbers, so in the end everyone has a great time in this nice beach bar! The Majestic Bar is part of the adjacent Lanta Paradise Beach Resort.

Why Not Bar
This bar is famous all over Koh Lanta and it’s located at Kantiang Bay in the south of Koh Lanta. The Why Not Bar plays regular live music and if you like you can also sing a song during the Open Mic night! There are no mega parties here, but you can relax on cushions. The music is tuned to the time of day, during the sunset you will hear mainly deep house. This is followed by live (guitar) music. The fireshows around 20.30 are impressive and entertaining to watch.
The Why Not Bar is a cozy bar where you keep coming back. You can also use showers there during the day. If you’re on your way to or from Mu Koh Lanta National Park you’ll pass this nice bar, so why not stop for a nice drink?

The Reggae Bar Crown Lanta
The Reggae Bar Crown Lanta is a special bar on Koh Lanta not far from Saladan Village. You don’t just sit here at tables. Instead you sit / hang / lie in semi private cabins with carpets and pillows on the floor. From your own cabin you have sea views and the most beautiful sunsets of Koh Lanta! The cabins with their own fan are suitable for 4 to 6 persons. There are also two cool tree houses with sea view. To make an order you ring the bell that is in your cabin and your order will be delivered in the tree house!
It is advisable to book in advance if you want a tree house, otherwise there is a good chance that you will be fishing next to the net. There are also normal tables on a wooden deck if you prefer or if you are with a large group. Besides cocktails, beer and wine, you can also order the nacho dish and other tasty tapas. Happy Hour is from 18:30 to 19:30. Every week there are live performances and fun fire shows from the rocks along the sea.
Would you like something other than a mojito or pina colada for once? At Crown Lanta they also have fish bowls full of sangria or a tom yum cocktail, yes indeed the famous Thai soup! There are the same ingredients in this cocktail as in the original soup, but different! It takes some getting used to, but still surprisingly tasty!
The Reggae Bar Crown Lanta belongs to the beautiful Avani+ Koh Lanta (formerly Crown Lanta Resort and Spa), when you want to go to this special bar, please indicate this at the reception of the hotel. You will then be taken by bus to the bar, this is also possible if you are not a guest of the luxury resort.

Rasta Baby Bar Koh Lanta
The Rasta Baby Bar is a super fun bar on Klong Ning Beach. As the name suggests the atmosphere is very chill and mainly jungle and reggae sounds from the stalls. The bar has a very creative interior, of course complete with peace signs and Bob Marley posters. There is a wooden deck built on the beach where you can lounge and relax on the pillow. Also on the beach are nice spots and dresses to relax on.
The Rasta Baby Bar is run by a friendly family who makes you feel immediately welcome! A few times a week there is live music and sometimes special bands are invited to perform and then the feet come off the sand! Between 16.00 and 19.00 all cocktails are 100 baht and sometimes 2 for the price of 1.

Big Bang Bar
The Big Bang Bar is a little paradise on Klong Nin Beach! What makes this bar so different from other bars on Koh Lanta is that they sell special local craft beers here. Craft beers with names that will make you curious anyway. How about Butterfly Pea Wheat, Coconut Cream Ale and Tuk Tuk Cream Ale (240 baht). Of course there are also the usual Thai beers like Chang and Leo (80 baht) and tasty cocktails. At the Big Bang Bar it’s happy hour every day from 16:00 – 19:00 all cocktails are 100 baht.
Tables are set up on the beach, so something to eat and enjoy the fire shows is also possible. The friendly owner (Bang) makes you feel welcome right away, if you’ve been here once you keep coming back!

Freedom Bar / Liberty Beach Bar Koh Lanta
Freedom Bar, also known as the Liberty Beach Bar, is one of the most famous bars on Koh Lanta and is located at Klong Khong Beach. Regularly Full Moon and Half Moon parties are held here with different DJ’s. These parties are of course not comparable to the mega big beach, waterfall and jungle parties on Koh Phangan. But that’s all part of the charm of Koh Lanta! Even when there is no moon at all, it’s a regular party here! Especially in the weekends. On the other days you can also enjoy yourself in the very cool bar which is decorated with all kinds of typical island decorations. A lot of the furniture is painted with neon paint and if you like you can also decorate yourself to blend in with the interior. In any case, it is a cozy colorful gang! You can also play a game of pool or lounge in a hammock or colorful cushions. Because the Freedom Bar is so popular the prices in this bar are a bit higher than in surrounding bars, but the beautiful bar, the great fire shows and the rasta vibe make the high price more than worth a visit!

Funky Monkey
Funky Monkey is a large bar and has a special cave-like interior. This bar is for a change not on the beach but on the road that runs parallel to Long Beach (Phra Beach). The Funky Monkey Bar is known for its good band that sings all kinds of cool covers. Even if you want to sing or play a tune yourself, this is possible! Because Funky Monkey is also a karaoke bar! That guarantees a lot of fun and coziness, especially after a few nice drinks! Regularly singing contests are organized and prizes are given away to the best singer or singer! Children can also take part in the karaoke contests earlier in the evening and win fun prizes.

Pangea Beach Bar
A great location to see the sun set and see it rise again! Pangea Bar Beach Bar is one of the few bars on Koh Lanta that will continue while otherwise bars close. Every Tuesday it’s techno time with DJ’s until 04.00. On Sundays it’s Deep Sunday with chill deep house until 02.00.
The beach bar is exactly as a beach bar should be, lots of wood and with your feet in the sand. On the beach are nice plateaus with cushions to sit / lounge on. Happy Hour is from 17.00 to 21.00, so all the time! Keep an eye on their Facebook page because there are regular special evenings with international DJs. You will find Pangea Beach Bar halfway the bay of Long Beach.

Cheeky Monkey Bar
Cheeky Monkey is a super cozy bar! You can find Cheeky Monkey on the main road on Koh Lanta parallel to Klong Dao Beach. In this bar you can also watch soccer, rugby and other sports games on multiple screens. Cheeky Monkey is therefore also called a sports bar where a free game of pool also is possible. Many visitors love the Cheeky Monkey bar because of its nice owner (Aussie) and friendly staff. If you get homesick while traveling they will make you feel at home here. On Friday a good house band plays here regularly and you can have a dance. There are also free drinks and shots to win because once a week every guest can spin the wheel of fortune for great prizes!

Koh Lanta is a lovely island to explore by scooter or car. You bypass the high taxi prices and you can visit nice places at your leisure. We have a very good experience with Lanta Sky. You can rent a scooter or car from them that they bring and pick up again when it suits you best. If you want to rent a car you have to leave your passport, that is Koh Lanta everywhere. Renting a scooter without your passport is often possible when you pay a few thousand baht deposit. Are you going to Mu Koh Lanta National Park? Then ask for a powerful scooter, especially if you want to go with two people on a scooter. The roads to the National Park go up a lot and that calls for some extra power.
