Temples (Wat) in Bangkok, Thailand

BANGKOK’S TEMPLES

Temples (Wats) and Thailand are an inseparable duo. When you are in Thailand for the first time, you will notice that you will encounter Buddhist temples everywhere. Not only in the big cities like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Krabi and Trang. But also in the countryside like in the Isaan you will see a lot of them…

Some temples are so crowded by tourists that you might think that it is mainly a tourist attraction. But nothing could be further from the truth! Temples are of great importance to many Thai. These are places where Thai people make sacrifices, meditate and pray. No matter how busy it is. When you visit a temple, you are also expected to wear appropriate clothing. The rules are often displayed at the entrance. If you do not have appropriate clothing, you can often rent it (for free). Many temples are hundreds of years old but new ones are still being built, all temples are unique and often have their own story.
