AMAZING CINEMAS, TO THE MOVIES IN BANGKOK!
Fancy a relaxing (romantic) night out? Do your feet need rest or have you had enough of the heat for a while? Then grabbing a movie is a great idea. The cinemas in Bangkok cannot be compared to the cinemas in the Netherlands. This makes “just” going to the movies as a quick and special experience. The cinemas in Bangkok are just a little bit bigger, more fun and more beautiful!
Where to go to the cinema?
The cinemas in Bangkok can usually be found in the luxurious and large shopping malls. The shopping malls Siam Paragon and ICONSIAM are known for the beautiful cinemas and the different seat and screen options.
In this article you can read about our experiences with the Paragon Cineplex Cinema in the Siam Paragon shopping mall and ICON CINECONIC in the ICONSIAM shopping mall. .

The cinema in Siam Paragon, Paragon Cineplex
When you walk into the lobby, you know, this isn’t just any movie theater. The big lobby with the high ceiling will shine immediately towards you. In the cinema there are different kinds of screens like 2D, 3D and even 4DX! There are also different kinds of chairs to choose from, how about a double sofa for example? In the cinemas of Bangkok you can have it all! And of course you can have a drink, popcorn in all kinds of (special) flavors and buy other snacks.

Buy a ticket first
Buying a ticket for the cinema is easy at one of the E-ticket service machines. At these machines you can also pay with cash. This is cheaper for most tourists because of the costs of debit cards abroad. You can view the room layout on the screen and directly choose your seat. If you prefer personal contact there are also staffed ticket counters where you can buy a ticket.

Watching a movie from bed (Honda Ultimate Screen)
We went to the Siam Paragon Cinema for the super luxury seats that can be as flat as a bed! Everything is adjustable with the buttons on your chair, so only the foot end can be raised, which we loved after a day of shopping. We got a blanket, pillow and slippers. Pretty hard not to fall asleep. Luckily the movie was exciting enough to keep us awake, otherwise we would have fallen asleep for sure.

Before the movie started we had access to the beautiful luxury lounge. Here we could choose a snack and drink, this was included in the movie ticket. Next to our chair was a button that we could press if we wanted to order more, that felt pretty decadent!
DO YOU KNOW?
Before the movie starts, the song is played in front of the king, at the same time you see images of the royal family. Everyone in the cinema (including you) gets up when this song starts and sits down when the song ends. Not getting up is considered disrespectful.

Cinema ICON CINECONIC in ICONSIAM
ICONSIAM is a beautiful shopping mall on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. Everything in this mall seems made to amaze you. One floor is even more beautiful than the other. On the 6th, 7th and 8th floor is the luxurious cinema ICON CINECONIC. There are 14 cinemas including a VIP, IMAX, 4DX and a Kids Cinema! There are different types of seats to choose from. We loved to relax in the cinema after a day of shopping!
TIP!
Bring a sweater / hoody and possibly put on long pants, the air conditioning is often very cold in the cinema.
What an entrance!
The entrance of the cinema can of course not stay behind the rest of the beautiful ICONSIAM shopping center. The walls of the escalators are illuminated with countless lights. The beautiful corridors with beautiful luxurious high pile carpet give you the feeling that you are going to a premiere and you should have put on your gala dress or tuxedo. This makes an “ordinary” night at the movies suddenly special!

4DX cinema
Most people by now know the 3D movie where you have to wear glasses. At the 4DX cinema this is also the case, but then they put a scoop on top of it. During the movie there are all kinds of effects, like rain, wind and even smell! But also your chair moves and vibrates in all directions, sometimes it looks like you are on a roller coaster. Experiencing a movie is probably not going to get any more intense!
Not near ICONSIAM? Also in Siam Paragon you can go to the 4DX cinema.

Kids Cinema, a child friendly cinema
Kids Cinema in ICONSIAM is especially for families with small children who don’t like to sit still for long. The cosy cinema has colourful benches that you can easily tuck into with your whole family. In addition, the sound is less loud and it’s less dark in the cinema, and you don’t necessarily have to be quiet. Have you sat down enough? Then take a dip in the ball pool via the slide! Nothing is too crazy in the cinemas of Bangkok!

Subtitles and language of the films
The language of the movies is English or Thai. Thai movies have English subtitles and English movies usually have Thai subtitles. It’s also indicated in the films.
Prices cinema Bangkok
For the fully adjustable sunbeds for 2 persons you pay 2.000 baht per couple, this includes 2 snacks and 2 drinks of your choice. There are also romantic double sofas available to cuddle up against each other, the price is 900 baht per couple.
Of course there are also movie theatres with normal seats, although these are often more luxurious than you are probably used to. For example, the seats are more spacious and can

High quality cinema screens
The Major Cineplex cinemas use IMAX screens with duo laser projectors for razor-sharp images. The screens are also larger and the sound is excellent! In addition, there are also special screens such as the Screen X in cinema CineArt. This cinema can be found in shopping mall EmQuartier. This cinema not only has a screen right in front of you but also on the sides. This makes you almost surrounded by the movie!
Major Cineplex does not only have entertainment in the field of movies. In Siam Paragon, for example, you can also bowl at BLU-O Rhythm & Bowling. When you need some refreshment you can skate at freezing temperatures in the Sub-Zero Ice Skate Club.
